We are proud of our track record of international maritime transport to and from Tohoku since the early days of the industry

The history of Kairiku overlaps with the history of the development of both Sendai and Ishinomaki Ports and their waterfronts. We handle various kinds of ocean freight at these two local transport hubs. Sendai Port has been Tohoku’s container transport hub since the establishment of international container liner services connecting Tohoku with Southeast Asia as well as North America. Ishinomaki Port has been Tohoku’s transport hub of bulk cargo, handling primarily industrial materials, logs, and animal feed materials.

Sendai Port—Tohoku’s Gateway to the World

Sendai Port is Tohoku’s hub of international as well as domestic container and unitized cargo traffic. The port has established international container liner services with North America connecting Sendai with the United States and Canada; Southeast Asia connecting Sendai with Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan; and China as well as South Korea. Sendai Port boasts domestic feeder services connecting Sendai with Tokyo, Kawasaki, and Yokohama.

    Ishinomaki Port—Regional Core Industrial Center

Designated as a bulk “feeder” port to Japan’s Strategic International Bulk Ports, Ishinomaki Port accommodates large cargo vessels. As a major supply source of industrial materials and semi-finished products in Tohoku, Ishinomaki Port handles traffic of a wide range of international as well as domestic cargo, primarily construction materials, logs, paper, pulp, and animal feed grains.
The development of Hiyori Port (Hibarino, Ishinomaki Port) as an auxiliary port has been in progress. Two 13-meter deep berths already in operation can accommodate large vessels.
